The guest speaker for Carbon County Republican Women’s October 4th meeting at Fort Rockvale was Starr Emery representing Moms for Liberty in Billings. She introduced herself as a “Mom” currently having nine foster children in her home (all of whom she’ll try to adopt), a volunteer fire fighter in the Shepherd area, and a Christian. She has also returned to being a student, striving for a doctorate in mental health, and soon she will be running for the State House of Representatives, advocating for the rights of families and children.
She originally became involved with Moms for Liberty because she was asked to run for the school board in the Billings School District. She saw that Billings’ schools are basically liberal and children are being indoctrinated with many things sexual in nature. This was evidenced when her family took in a young teenage girl who had been sexually assaulted, had gone through a lot of trauma and was confused about her sexuality and her gender. She was confused by the conversations she was having with her teachers about her problems. Since living with Starr and her family, this young lady has been adopted by them. She now fully embraces her female gender, has accepted Christ as her savior, is no longer having anxiety and depression, has faced her attacker (who is currently serving 100 years in prison), and has become a strong, powerful 17 year-old who is going into law enforcement when she graduates.
Starr is comfortable with public speaking and noted she’s not afraid to tell others that they have to stand up against the school system, teach their children what is good for them and not leave it to the present day educators. She reminded us that it is our tax dollars that pay for the school system that educates our children who will be making decisions for our generation and generations to come.
Moms for Liberty is a large national organization; they have 299 chapters in 46 states with over 120,000 members. This group in Yellowstone County is the first and currently the only chapter in Montana. It began in October of 2022 and is comprised simply of parents that care about the education of our students. Their objective is to fight for the survival of America by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to defend their parental rights in all levels of government.
This group has been successful in the legislature as an oppositional force countering the teacher’s union. Some of the bills they advocated for in the last session were: HB562, the community choice charter bill, HB393, students with special needs should have equal opportunity, HB676, revised law clarifying fundamental parental rights and HB234, the obscenity bill to eliminate reading materials from the schools that are harmful to children. All of these bills passed. SB99 prevents minors from “transitioning” through surgical procedures and puberty blockers without parental consent. A liberal judge has blocked that bill.
They have also successfully advocated for individuals to run for school boards in School District 2.
Currently two board members, Starr Emery and Alba Pimentel from Moms for Liberty sit on a parental advisory committee for School District 2. They are working on improving the special education department involving special needs students. These students have been prime targets for gender ideology and have not been.
